Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting Standby Service Request at Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK)

Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK) is a large and active general aviation facility. The Airport is not ARFF indexed and does not operate under FAR Part 139. Fire and emergency response services are normally provided offsite by the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District and the Village of Wheeling Fire Department.

To further enhance service options for Airport users, the Village of Wheeling Fire Department has agreed to make available a pre-arranged, extra-duty standby service at an additional cost.

When scheduled and confirmed with the Fire Department, this standby service includes coverage beginning at least 15 minutes prior to an aircraft’s arrival and extending to 15 minutes after departure for unscheduled operations.

Standby coverage will be provided by Wheeling’s 2022 Oshkosh Striker (Crash Truck 44) along with two (2) certified firefighters.

Vehicle Specific Capabilities;

2000 Gallons Per Minute Pump.
210 Gallon Class B Foam Tank.
500 lbs. Purple K Dry Chemical.
750 Gallons Per Minute Roof Turret (Foam Capable).
750 Gallons Per Minute Front Bumper Turret (Foam and Purple K Capable).

Please note: the designated fire staging area may differ from the aircraft’s final destination on the airfield.
This agreement is for one (1) ARFF apparatus and two (2) certified fire fighters for ARFF Standby Services. This request form may not be used for assisting persons entering and exiting aircraft for non-emergent reasons. Anyone requesting non-emergent lift assists should be directored toward a private ambulence service.

Total Cost Per 2 Hour Interval: $1,300.00 USD.

Upon confirmation of services from the Fire Department, Airport Operations will direct the Aircraft Operator to pre pay the above rate via credit card with the Fixed Based Operator/Handler at KPWK. Receipt confirmation must be sent to both ops@chiexec.com and finance@chiexec.com within 2 hours of confirmation otherwise the ARFF services will not be provided.

A filled out request form must be submitted no later than 72 hours in advance of the scheduled operation. Requests will be accommodated as much as possible but are not guaranteed. An email confirmation will be sent when service is confirmed with additional instructions. These requests are generally monitored everyday of the week between 7:00 am – 3:30 pm local central excluding US Federal Holidays and anytime the US NOTAM system shows a “Conditions Not Reported” NOTAM.

I understand that this agreement is contingent upon confirmation of the availability of off-duty fire personnel by the Village of Wheeling Fire Department. Once submitted, the Village of Wheeling Fire Department will confirm availability and assign staff to this request.*

I understand that the I, as the Aircraft Operator, agrees to prepay the cost of the ARFF Standby Service at a cost of $1,3000.00 USD for a minimum of a two (2) hour interval per aircraft movement.*
